Have you poured sour milk over God's creation?
I ate my breakfast cereal with sour milk today. I guess I need to tell you the whole story so you can appreciate how dumb it was to use sour milk. The cereal I eat for breakfast is my own special blend. I take three brands of cereal and mix them together with scientific precision. Then I add imported dried fruit that I discovered on board a ship about 20 years ago. I put this secret blend into a cereal bowl and top it with sliced banana or seasonal blueberries. Then I gently pour cold milk over my creation and enjoy my breakfast cereal. It is amazing! Why then would I pour sour milk over my creation?
Okay, this is a spiritual article so why am I writing about cereal? Because my foolish actions today are exactly what Born Again Christians do every day with their spiritual lives. God by His grace created you as a special delight for all creation to see. When you received Christ as your Savior everything about you changed. You are beautiful beyond description. You are dressed in royal robes of righteousness. You have designer sandals on your feet. You have a priceless family ring, the signet of God, on your hand. You have the Holy Spirit residing within you. All creation is speechless when they see what God has done in you. Then you pour sour behavior over God’s creation.
There is an account in the book of Isaiah of God planting a vineyard, and all the work He did to make it fruitful. But it only produced sour grapes. God then asks the following question. "What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not already done? When I expected sweet grapes, why did my vineyard give me bitter grapes? (Isaiah 5:4 NLT) You are God's vineyard.
You live a spiritually fruitless life God never intended you to live. Why? Because you have never realized who you are in Christ. You don't see the value that God places on you. The day you realize how much God values you, and how great His plans are for you, then you will stop pouring sour milk over His creation. Start living the life He has prepared for you and you will see the glory of God in the sweet fruitfulness of your life.
