P In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.
P Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness.
P Our help is in the name of the Lord,
C who made heaven and earth.
P I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord,
C and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.
Please kneel or be seated for confession as you are able. Silence for reflection on God's Word and for self-examination.
P O almighty God, merciful Father,
C I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended You and justly deserved Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them, and I pray You of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being.
P Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Service of the Word Introit Exodus 15:2a, 6, 13, 17–18; antiphon: v. 1b
P I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. C The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. P Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.
C You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode. P You will bring them in and plant them on your own mountain, the place, O Lord, which you have made for your abode, C the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established. The Lord will reign forever and ever. P Glory be to the Father and to the Son . . . Amen. C I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

Please be seated. Old Testament Reading Exodus 15:1–11
1Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying,
“I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. 2The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. 3The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is his name. 4“Pharaoh’s chariots and his host he cast into the sea, and his chosen officers were sunk in the Red Sea. 5The floods covered them; they went down into the depths like a stone. 6Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy. 7In the greatness of your majesty you overthrow your adversaries; you send out your fury; it consumes them like stubble. 8At the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up; the floods stood up in a heap; the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea. 9The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them. I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them.’ 10You blew with your wind; the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters. 11“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?”
R This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.
Gradual Hymn: “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” #461 (Vs. 1-4, 8)
1 I know that my Redeemer lives; What comfort this sweet sentence gives! He lives, He lives, who once was dead; He lives, my ever-living head.
2 He lives triumphant from the grave; He lives eternally to save; He lives all-glorious in the sky; He lives exalted there on high.
3 He lives to bless me with His love; He lives to plead for me above; He lives my hungry soul to feed; He lives to help in time of need.
4 He lives to grant me rich supply; He lives to guide me with His eye; He lives to comfort me when faint; He lives to hear my soul’s complaint.
8 He lives, all glory to His name! He lives, my Jesus, still the same; Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives: I know that my Redeemer lives!
Epistle 1 Corinthians 5:6b–8
Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Please stand. Alleluia LSB 190
C Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
Holy Gospel John 20:1–18
P The Holy Gospel according to St. John, the twentieth chapter. C Glory be to Thee, O Lord.
1Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. 4Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. 8Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10Then the disciples went back to their homes.
11But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. 12And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). 17Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.
P This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ.
Please remain standing. Nicene Creed
C I believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth
and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of His Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light,
very God of very God,
begotten, not made,
being of one substance with the Father,
by whom all things were made;
who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary
and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.
He suffered and was buried.
And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures
and ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of the Father.
And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead,
whose kingdom will have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord and giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified,
who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church,
I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins,
and I look for the resurrection of the dead
and the life + of the world to come. Amen.
Please be seated and pass your prayer requests to the ushers in the center aisle. We celebrate and sing: Hymn of the Day: “Now All the Vault of Heaven Resounds” #465

2 Eternal is the gift He brings, Therefore our heart with rapture sings: “Christ has triumphed! He is living!” Now still He comes to give us life And by His presence stills all strife. Christ has triumphed! He is living! Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
3 O fill us, Lord, with dauntless love; Set heart and will on things above That we conquer through Your triumph; Grant grace sufficient for life’s day That by our lives we truly say: “Christ has triumphed! He is living!” Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
4 Adoring praises now we bring And with the heav’nly blessèd sing: “Christ has triumphed! Alleluia!” Be to the Father and our Lord, To Spirit blest, most holy God, All the glory, never ending! Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Hymn of Response: “Christ the Lord is Risen Today” #469
1 “Christ the Lord is ris’n today!” Saints on earth and angels say; Raise your joys and triumphs high; Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth, reply.
2 Love’s redeeming work is done, Fought the fight, the battle won; Lo! Our Sun’s eclipse is o’er; Lo! He sets in blood no more.
3 Vain the stone, the watch, the seal; Christ hath burst the gates of hell. Death in vain forbids His rise; Christ has opened paradise.
4 Lives again our glorious King! Where, O death, is now thy sting? Once He died our souls to save; Where thy victory, O grave?
5 Soar we now where Christ has led; Foll’wing our exalted Head. Made like Him, like Him we rise; Ours the cross, the grave, the skies.
6 Hail the Lord of earth and heav’n! Praise to Thee by both be giv’n! Thee we greet triumphant now: Hail, the resurrection, Thou!

Guests, Family, and Friends:
As you prepare yourself for the lord’s Supper, please ask yourself:
Do I believe that I am a sinner in need of God’s mercy and grace in Christ Jesus?
Do I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior?
Have I been baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
Do I believe that this bread and wine, the very body and blood of Jesus Christ are truly present for the forgiveness of my sins and the strengthening of my faith?
